Since social media is relatively new to us, conclusive findings are limited. The research that does exist mainly relies on self-reporting, which can often be flawed, and the majority of studies focus on Facebook. whether social media is good or bad for users’ well-being
Social media has become a necessity in the daily life of contemporary people. It is not only a platform for people to communicate and obtain information, but also has a profound impact on our psychological state and social interaction. However, whether the impact of social media on happiness is positive or negative has long been controversial.
Although many studies have shown that social media may have a negative impact on happiness, its advantages may outweigh its disadvantages if used responsibly and appropriate measures are taken. As Büchi (2021) pointed out:
“Digital media itself is neither harmful nor beneficial, but the digitization of society and daily life will undoubtedly affect happiness.”
84.9% of the data set showed a statistically significant positive correlation between Internet access and happiness
